Blockbuster is running a promotion in an attempt to find potential future customers for its online service. All current Netflix members are eligible for a free movie rental with each Netflix envelope flap they bring to a participating Blockbuster store between December 2nd and 21st.
The tear-off Netflix flap, which has the subscriber’s name and address on it, and is normally thrown away, will be used as proof of Netflix membership and must match the name on the Blockbuster card.
Get those envelope flaps to Blockbuster and enjoy the show! I will have to pass — I am not a Netflix user. I honestly don’t remember when I turned on the TV last time — it must be a while.

Mike at TechCrunch wrote an interesting blog post comparing Blockbuster to Netflix. Apparently he co-founded and ran a Canadian copycat video rental service (Zip.ca) and knows the business niche very well. There are some interesting insights in the article.
