I think they did try to keep it a secret in the beginning. They probably wanted to see consumer response before they put their name behind it.

Anyway, I've ordered from them before, and I just received an official announcement in my email from them as an "Amazon Company".

That is about the only place you will see it mentioned. I would expect Amazon to have "An Amazon store" right on the front page if they wanted to add credibility to their new business. My point is that it is not coincidence that they hide the affiliation behind an extra click to About page.

I don't think its a "secret affiliation" in their about-us section it says:
'Who we are
Endless.com was built by Amazon.com in response to customers' desires to shop a destination dedicated to shoes and handbags. "

I came accross a good site which has a type of image search engine for shoes. It is Chezimelda, www.chezimelda.com . They seem to have the largest collection 110,000 pairs or more available from all retailers. The way it works! you click on a show you like and the search engine takes the images as an input to search for more of the same kind. Very fast feedback. I liked it a lot. It also exist for bags on Bagsta.com, www.bagsta.com
