Popular price comparison sites - September 2007

Update: for the latest revision of this list go to Popular price comparison sites - May 2008.

This is September 2007 revision of the Popular Price Comparison web sites list. You can find the last month revision of the list here.

The change in rating shows the difference compared to August results. The list has a total of 33 web sites and there are 15 more sites in my database that don’t meet Alexa Rank < 100,000 requirement.

This month list looks like a very close race. There is just one website that has better than 10% rating change, pronto.com (11.04%) which had very good last month as well.

The worst result comes from thefind.com (-15.8%) which is the only website with rating change below -10%. Enjoy the complete list below and make sure to drop me a note if you find that your favorite price comparison website is missing.

Many of these, especially Ebates, are a great online shopping site for pure cash-back rewards. My all-time favorite however is iBakeSale. It’s a new program (i.e. not yet on this list) with all the same cash-back offers and stores as these other online malls but allows you to allocate your savings between yourself and any type of fundraising group you might be involved in (e.g. child’s school, sports team, religious group). It’s really easy and has a great interface. Check it out.

You can do this with Ebates as well. You go to your account page and change ‘payment options’. You can send your rebates to any charity, friend, family member, etc…

I’d encourage a healthy dose of caution to anyone contemplating signing up for a ‘new’ ebates copy site. I’ve seen DOZENS go out of business over the years, leaving customers empty-handed. Ebates invented the concept and has been around for what, 8 years? Never missed a single check from them, they track perfectly and answer customer service quickly. Crazy to not use Ebates to buy stuff.

Add iBakeSale to a long list of imitators: schoolpop (out of business), thehungersite.com, 4charity, on and on… I wouldn’t take chances with newcomers who may not survive long enough to pay you and would stick with what works.

thanks for putting together this list. I send datafeeds for most of them and there are some on your list that I am going to give them a try. My personal favorite as a consumer is Jellyfish and as a merchant PriceGrabber.
