$1 coffee and free refills in Seattle Starbucks

Starbucks Mug

This sounds like encouraging news for all coffee addicted bargain hunters out there, myself included. Reuters reported today that if all goes well, we might soon be able to get more coffee for less at Starbucks.

Starbucks is experimenting with a smaller, “short” $1 cup as well as free refills for brewed coffee. Starbucks charges around $1.50 to $4.00 for a coffee, depending on size and flavor.

It is said that Seattle is chosen for the testing ground but I sure hope they don’t wait too long before extending this brilliant marketing strategy nationwide. ;-)

I don’t know if this idea is so brilliant. After all, they are located on every other block in most major cities in the world it seems. They’re not exactly doing bad. I guess it depends how small the “short” cup is. I’m picturing something similar to what you get at the dentists office to rinse out with. That wouldn’t be too good. I’m a big fan of free refills though. I would welcome that!

I hope you are wrong and we do see $1 coffee come to our home town. It so happens that I seldom take coffee to go and this new pricing would sit very well with me. ;-)
