Popular price comparison sites - January 2008

Update: for the latest revision of this list go to Popular price comparison sites - August 2008.

This is January 2008 revision of the Popular Price Comparison web sites list. You can find the last month revision of the list here.

The change in rating shows the difference compared to December results. The list has a total of 33 web sites and there are 16 more sites in my database that don’t meet Alexa Rank < 100,000 requirement.

thefind.com (18.61%) is in the lead this month. Could it be due to the recent Paypal love? The worst number comes from ebates.com (-9.35%) but the decline seems to be within usual fluctuation range.

Another notable change is the reduction in Google PageRank across the board. I don’t have an explanation other than there probably was a Google update recently and the big G tweaked their algorithm again.

The Alexa Ranking is irrelevant for sub-domains like shopping.aol.com because alexa shows the traffic for the whole domain - not the sub-domain as your post suggests.

You are correct. I have made the same point in the notes at the bottom of my blog post (in cursive).

Yan i still cannot understand after all those months why ebates is considered a price comparison site i thought they are a cashback/coupon site

Just as jellyfish is… The thing is that it is very hard to draw the line between the two, and I don’t have a category for rewards programs right now. If/when I start one, these will migrate to the new list. For now, I’d rather keep track of them somewhere… especially as they are somewhat like price comparison sites. Do I make sense?

yes i agree Yan but on jellyfish you can compare products (even if that means that you compare products from sites that offer cashback), on ebates its merely a list of sites offering cashback thats why i am asking -dont take it the wrong way ;-) -

It is a new ebay alternative online auction site for sellers who are tired of paying huge fees. We only charge 15cents per listing and no closing fees. Unique custom built website is unlike any other auction site. http://www.elfingo.com
