I have another problem with flat-screens. The furniture set I currently have in my living room is not LCD friendly. It fits my current TV just fine but the big screen will look ugly in there. But if you are sports fan, and like to watch the occasional HBO series, HDTV is awesome. LCDs are great because they consume less power and take up less space in your home. My Sony Trinitron CRT refuses to break after 8 years of abuse by small kids and I have very little incentive to upgrade since I don't watch it much.
