Multiple sources confirm that AT&T and Radio Shack have teamed up to offer a subsidized version of Acer Aspire netbook for just $100 starting this coming Monday. To qualify you will need to sign up to a 2 year AT&T AirCard contract priced $60 a month or more.
The normal price of this netbook is $370 (here is one currently offered by Buy.com) and $60 a month will cost your many times more if you start summing up your monthly fee. So do your math before jumping in.
The significance of this event is in the fact that this is the first time a company to offer a subsidized notebook (something that has so far been the prerogative of cell phones) and symbolizes the convergence of these two types of devices.
As a G1 owner and a long time smart phone fan I am confident that these gadgets will eventually merge together. Will they have a virtual or foldable keyboard? Will they run Linux, Windows, or Jolicloud? These are all details but I am sure we will see that ultimate product within 5-10 years.
As for this particular deal, I love the convenience of fast internet on the go from a small factor laptop like this and I would certainly love to have the netbook as a Christmas gift (with the plan paid in advance please ;-) ). Practically though I am currently looking into tethering my G1 to use it as a proxy from a laptop. Not only the result is cheaper, the process itself is a lot of fun!

This is November 2008 revision of the Popular Price Comparison web sites list. You can find the last month revision of the list here.
The change in rating shows the difference compared to October results. The list has a total of 35 web sites which is one more than the last month (added live.com). There are 18 more sites in my database that don’t meet Alexa Rank < 100,000 requirement.
The best performer this month is shoplocal.com with a gain of (25.32%) followed by ebates.com (22.81%). Both are established websites and both enjoyed extended mention in mainstream press during this holiday season
The worst performer this month is a very strange (and half dead) website which I might dump in January since there seems to be very little value in keeping it here. I will let you discover the name on your own. :-)

This is November 2008 revision of the Popular Deal Sites list. You can find the last month revision of the list here.
The change in rating shows the difference compared to October results and includes all deal sites from my database that meet Alexa Rank < 100,000 requirement. I am sticking with the original limit as moving to 50,000 seems to cut some interesting sites.
It is shopping season again and deal sites are experiencing a huge influx of visitors. The biggest positive swing in Alexa comes from a little known site, keepcash.com (75.48%). I did some digging and all I could find is that the founder Jon Vincent also runs another website - blackfriday.info - according to this newspaper article
Another website that came very close in performance also has traditionally fared very well during Black Friday shopping season, gottadeal.com gained (64.9%). On the negative side, the worst performer is anandtech.com (-15.94%) which has been in red for several months in a row. The average Alexa gain for all deal sits in my database this month is (13.86%)

Amazon has just released a new set of coupon codes for this month and as usual I post them in a list sorted by amount so it is more convenient to pick those with the best value. Most coupons below expire December 31, 2008.
If you like these Amazon coupons, I also recommend you to check out these Amazon discount codes. The best part is that these codes don’t have an expiration date!
