We had plenty of free stuff on the election day, promotions are more scarce for the president’s inauguration (that is tomorrow folks! ;-) ) but there are some. One of them comes from Krispy Kreme in a form of a free donut. From the company public release:
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. (NYSE: KKD) is honoring American’s sense of pride and freedom of choice on Inauguration Day, by offering a free doughnut of choice to every customer on this historic day, Jan. 20. By doing so, participating Krispy Kreme stores nationwide are making an oath to tasty goodies — just another reminder of how oh-so-sweet “free” can be.

The best performer is couponwinner.com (15.12%), who also moves up by 2 positions, and the worst result comes again from coupons.smartsource.com (-12.76%). Enjoy the complete list below!

This is December 2008 revision of the Popular Price Comparison web sites list. You can find the last month revision of the list here.
The change in rating shows the difference compared to November results. The list has a total of 35 web sites which is the same number as the last month. There are 18 more sites in my database that don’t meet Alexa Rank < 100,000 requirement.
The best performer this month is ebates.com with a gain of (19.14%) followed by shoplocal.com (15.03%). Last month these same two sites shared the two top spots only ebates was second and shoplocal was first
The worst performer this month is the same strange website which I didn’t dump from the list due to my own procrastination. It will be gone next month for sure, promise! ;-)

This is really a reminder to myself and anyone else who happened to miss a payment on a credit card. The typical fee is around $40 and many banks will readily remove it unless you are a repeat offender. This just happened to me last week with my Chase Freedom Plus and I was able to reverse the fee in one short phone call.
Steps to take if you missed a payment
1. Pay off the overdue balance as soon as possible
2. Wait for a few days till your payment is through
3. Call the service center and explain your situation
4. The officer will usually reverse the fee unless your are repeat offender
Now, since I always pay my balance in full I was also hit with an unusual for me finance charge (the interest on the balance). So far I have not been lucky to reverse that one… :-(
Did you have a recent late fee charge on your credit card? Did you try to remove it? Please share your experience in the comments!
