I was able to configure my old VOIP box, signed up for 'pay as you go' plan and ported my number. The voice quality is great and I love their website and how fast they reply to my questions. I'm doing exactly what you are doing - trying out Callcentric a little first before doing the actual port of my number. They have a great rating on the DSL Reports Good, Bad and Ugly list (http://www.dslreports.com/gbu). They seem to be reliable, but not the cheapest. There are others that are rated nearly as high as Callcentric on the gbu list, and are still cheaper. I opted for Callcentric because they seem to have the highest reliability rating.
