Free Starbucks coffee on April 15, 2010

The company wants you to make a difference: bring a reusable travel mug into your local Starbucks on April 15 and get a free brewed coffee. The promotion is a part of the new campaign labeled “The Big Picture”.

One person can save trees, together we can save forests.

For the good of the planet, Starbucks is encouraging everyone to switch from paper cups to reusable travel mugs. One day in March thousands of New Yorkers made the switch. Join them now by taking a pledge to do the same.

My look at the “Big Picture” is a bit different. What Starbucks could do to make the difference is switch to recyclable cups (the initiative was recently rejected by the board). Until then, “The Big Picture” looks more like a publicity stunt.
