This is February 2008 revision of the Popular Deal Sites list. You can find the last month revision of the list here.
The change in rating shows the difference compared to January results. The list has a total of 29 web sites which is 3 less than the last month. There are 52 more in my database that didn’t meet the Alexa Rank < 100,000 requirement.
It is another down month for the deal sites. Alexa rank is red for all but three sites and those three are up in single digits. The 3 sites that are gone from the list this month are keepcash.com, dailydeals.com, and bargainshare.com
The biggest decliner is gottadeal.com (-25.44%) which still falls from the huge spike of Black Friday activity (Alexa rank is a 3 month rolling average). The runner up is judysbook.com (-19.8%). The last I heard about them is that they were for sale. DealTaker has been bought as well, I wonder how that reflects on its ranking a few months from now

This is November 2007 revision of the Popular Deal Sites list. You can find the last month revision of the list here.
The change in rating shows the difference compared to October results. The list has a total of 30 web sites. There are 51 more in my database that didn’t meet the Alexa Rank < 100,000 requirement.
The good news is that the list is not shrinking any longer. Two sites appeared in the list this month, dailyedeals.com and (surprisingly for me) bargainshare.com who came with a whooping (54.08%) Alexa rank increase. If anyone has an explanation to this, step out. Looking at their Alexa chart however it sounds like it was a one time event.
Despite this phenomena, the best result this month comes from gottadeal.com (72.36%). I am sure this is thanks to their established Black Friday reputation. judysbook.com (-9.92%) had the worst result in November. I guess the news about site being sold starts to take effect
I should also note dealtaker.com who is winning the Favorite Deal Site contest I am running on this blog. Check out the top 5 deal sites in the widget I added to the upper right corner of the front page and vote for your favorite if you have not done so yet!

The change in rating shows the difference compared to September results. The list has a total of 28 web sites. There are 53 more in my database that didn’t meet the Alexa Rank < 100,000 requirement.
This list is still shrinking, fishingfordeals is out this month, but the average Alexa rank growth is positive for the first time in very long time. I attribute this to the upcoming shopping season.
As usual, there are winners and losers. gottadeal.com (18.21%) had an excellent month followed by dealsea.com (17.46%). By the way, gottadeal already has a very active Black Friday discussion at their forums. Check it out.
The worst number comes from anandtech.com (-14.29%). I have recently discovered an interesting thing about Anandtech. They seem not to use affiliate links in their shopping forums. Can anyone comment?

This is the March 2007 revision of the Popular Bargain Hunting web sites list. ou can find the last month revision of the list here.
The change in rating shows the difference compared to February results. The list has a total of 44 web sites. There are 28 more in my database that didn’t meet the Alexa Rank < 100,000 requirement. Two web sited dropped out of the list this month, mightygoods.com and deals.com (info).
Bargain sites continue to get slaughtered across the board according to Alexa. On average Alexa rank has decreased by 27.07% compared to 11.13% last month. Since we are well off in the middle of the year, the decline can no longer be attributed to post holiday period. Other than the on-going Google update, I can't think of other reasons for the change.
One thing I would be curious to know is if this is an absolute decline in traffic to these websites (reflecting declining popularity of deals & coupons) or a relative one (reflecting growing popularity of other online industries). Are there any website owners out there who will volunteer to disclose traffic stats?
Going down to individual performers, gottadeal.com keeps losing the ground. It has the worst decline this month again, 121.43% to be precise. Below is their 6-month chart

The biggest gainer this month is fishingfordeals.com with a small growth of 12.71%. The site is a plain vanilla bulletin board, a rather popular one though.

The change in rating shows the difference compared to January results. The list has a total of 46 web sites. There are 23 more in my database that didn’t meet the Alexa Rank < 100,000 requirement. Two web sited dropped out of the list, keepcash.com and trezr.com (info).
The biggest loser this month is gottadeal.com with whooping -121.69% change in Alexa rank. The site is still suffering from the sharp after-holiday drop. The rank is 3 months rolling average and should be bottoming out this month. Here is how it changed over time:

The winner this month is deals2buy.com with a modest gain of 11.91%. The site is now holding position #8, which is up from #9 in January and #13 the month before. The success doesn't go unnoticed and competitors are eager to replicate it.
