Newegg has a 1 TB internal hard drive (expired) from Western Digital currently for $269.99. The price goes down by $30 when promotion code PPAL1126HDD03 is applied. Pay with Paypal and you will get 20% cash back, thanks to this Paypal promotion. This brings the price down to $192 shipped, or $0.19 per GB.
- Pros: One terabyte of storage and 16 MB of cache along with WD reliability and the three year warranty; all at an unheard-of price per gigabyte.
- Cons: Not 7200 rpm (however, at this size, that’s more of a quibble than a real con).
I wonder how long it will take for this 1 TB technological marvel at this great price to start looking just like this 10 MB “dinosaur” for $3398 on the picture below (found via Digg). ;-)

When this deal first surfaced I thought it would be dead within a day, so I resisted the urge to post about. Two days later and it is still alive!
Anyway, I think it is a great hard drive for a great price, if you need one. Get them while they last!
