The company wants you to make a difference: bring a reusable travel mug into your local Starbucks on April 15 and get a free brewed coffee. The promotion is a part of the new campaign labeled “The Big Picture”.

Of course it is not completely free, there is a trick. Starbucks kicks off eight weeks of exploration with a different bold coffee each week. If your coffee shop participates in this promotion you have a chance of pocketing 1 lb whole bean coffee at the end of the 8 weeks. Here are the rules:

Starbucks is finally offering free Internet at its locations to the customers who sign up for their rewards program. Plus if you join before July 14 you will get a free drink, SeattlePi.com reports
Besides wireless Internet, other frequent customer benefits also begin on Tuesday, including free syrups and milk choices, free brewed coffee refills and a free tall beverage with the purchase of a pound of coffee beans.
The free Internet is only good for two hours a day, but this should be more than enough for an average coffee drinker. Besides, if you drink more than 1-2 cups a day, you need to really think about how much in health-care related expenses it may cost you down the road.

This sounds like encouraging news for all coffee addicted bargain hunters out there, myself included. Reuters reported today that if all goes well, we might soon be able to get more coffee for less at Starbucks.
Starbucks is experimenting with a smaller, “short” $1 cup as well as free refills for brewed coffee. Starbucks charges around $1.50 to $4.00 for a coffee, depending on size and flavor.
It is said that Seattle is chosen for the testing ground but I sure hope they don’t wait too long before extending this brilliant marketing strategy nationwide. ;-)
