It is hard to argue with the fact that there is no better bargain than good health. This is probably why in Ukraine people drink to “good health” more often than to anything else. ;-)
I have been fortunate to have inherited good genes from my parents and my health is so far so good. There is one factor however which troubles me a lot and it is my job. It is very unhealthy. My work day consists of, well, sitting. I spend the day in front of a computer and when it is time to leave I hop into my car and sit for another half-an-hour just to come home and sit some more at the dinner table and then yet more while blogging.
This is why when I found this interesting tool today which measures how walkable your neighborhood is I probably spent half a day playing with it and trying different locations. I only wish I found it a few years back when we were in the process choosing the place to live. Where we eventually settled down roads don’t have sidewalks and distances are stretched quite a bit.
Check out this cool website and the widget I embedded in the blog post, and tell me in the comments, how does your area score compared to, say, The White House (ranked at 92 out of 100)?
